Gary Numan - Telekon

Gary Numan's fourth album and the last of his "machine" albums. Released in 1980 the album only gave one single, "This Wreckage", which reached number 20 in the singles chart, whilst the non-album releases, "We Are Glass" and "I Die: You Die" were more popular. The album, although still portraying Numan's view of a dystpoian future has a broad musical sound in contrast to the starkness of "The Pleasure Principle", with the return of guitars and strings to accompany the developing use of synthesizers.

During this time Numan toured extensively around the globe, culminating in sell out 3 night shows at Wembley Arena, with support from canadian violinist Nash The Slash and Tik And Tok, the shows were filmed and released on video as Micromusic. These shows marked the end of this phase in Numans career who would retire from touring until 1983.

Tracks:

1. This Wreckage
2. The Aircrash Bureau
3. Telekon
4. Remind Me To Smile
5. Sleep By Windows
6. We Are Glass
7. I'm An Agent
8. I Dream Of Wires
9. Remember I Was Vapour
10. Please Push No More
11. The Joy Circuit
12. I Die: You Die (Alternate Version)

Gary Numan - The Pleasure Principle

When released in 1979 this album was a milestone in rock history. A true electronic album, containing no guitar at all, this album presents Numan's own bleak view of the future and music to match. This album spawned two singles Complex and Cars. Cars has been remixed and re-released on several occasion and has appeared on almost all of Numan's live albums.

The bonus tracks on this release "Random" and "Oceans" are instrumental outtakes originally issued on vinyl with other previously-unreleased tracks in 1985; "Asylum" was the b-side of the "Cars" vinyl single; the live versions of "Me! I Disconnect From You" and "Bombers" made up the B-side of "Complex". "Remember I Was Vapour" and "On Broadway" were originally released as a promotional single shipped with early pressings of Telekon in 1980.

The Pleasure Principle still remains a highly influencial album being sampled by the likes of Basement Jaxx and Armand Van Helden, amongst others.

Tracks:

1. Airlane
2. Metal
3. Complex
4. Films
5. M.E.
6. Tracks
